ZARD’s Vocalist

This afternoon while having lunch, a news was aired at Japanese local TV. It was about ZARD’s lead vocalist Izumi Sakai (real name: Sachiko Kamachi) who died yesterday May 27th, 2007 at 3:10PM at Keio University Hospital, Shinjuku ward, Tokyo. It was reported that she was diagnosed of cervical cancer last June, and had been released repeatedly from hospitalization. Sad thing is that she actually died due to brain contusion when she fell down from the hospital emergency stairs early morning of May 26th. She died at the age of 40 years old.

Some ZARD singles were used on some popular anime singles such as Cooking Masterboy way back 1997, the popular ending of Dragonball GT titled “Don’t you see!” and “Dan Dan”. Slam Dunk’s ending such as “My Friend” are included in the list and of course the Detective Conan’s “Unmei no Roulette Mawashite” (translated as Roll the Roulette of Destiny).
