YUI Live in Budokan 2007

7PM, A stunning, heart pounding moment as we wait for YUI to enter the stage... Around 7:15PM, *Lights off* The crowd shouted in the dark. Spotlights from different corners focused on the main stage. Holding our breath, YUI elevated from ground level up to the main stage while carrying her guitar in a hard case. The crowd shouted and applaused continuously as YUI walks at the center aisle of the stage. YUI sat down in the middle hall and opened up the guitar case. She pulled out her Martin guitar as well as the aroma candle, placing it on top of the case. She then pulled a matchbox out of her pocket and attempted once, twice, to light-up the candle. YUI while being at the center of the spotlight started to pick the strings of her guitar. And then sings 1. “It’s happy line”...

Really breath taking! I was watching her closely and felt like my heart is pumping harder every second while YUI performs... everyone is so quiet, all of us just wanted to share every piece of her song. After her 1st song, she then paused and talked for a while. Next was 2. “Goodbye Days”... YUI played this twice as she misses on the first one... again all of us were holding our breath. *Lights off* She then ran back to the main stage where YUI’s band members already get there position and started to play the following songs:

3.Merry Go Round
4.LIFE

5.CHE.R.RY

DEN1.TOKYO

It was a very lovely night, spending time with YUI (oh ok... spending OUR time with YUI) :) This is the first time I watched a concert and it feels like coming back for more!

***

Before the concert, I lined-up to get few YUI merchandise, I came late at around 3:30PM so the queue was terribly long:

YUI Merchandise Queue

YUI Merchandise Queue

Unfortunately, around 4PM when one of the staff announced that items such as aroma candle were already sold out. Still the queue was too long some of us were thinking if we’ll able to reach the booth. Waiting patiently, 6PM (after 2 & 1/2 hours!?) I arrived at the destination point:

YUI Merchandise Booth

Again some other items were already sold-out such as black shirt (L), etc. So I settled for other items such as the violet shirt (M), pick, stickers and towel.

*Items here (later)*

Before entering the Budokan stadium, I grabbed some picture of the banner at the entrance:

Although taking pictures inside the concert wasn’t allowed, I managed to get some pictures but not really in good quality (it’s hard to take pictures within the arena):

And few photos I got after YUI’s concert:

One thing I can say I LOVE YUI! Best concert ever! :D

SIAM SHADE - Heart of Rock Night!

My friend and I went to Nippon Budokan around 1:45PM. The queue for the SIAM SHADE merchandise during that time was terribly too long. We lined-up immediately hoping that we’ll reach the booth to buy some items before the concert starts.

Part of the SIAM SHADE Crowd

One good thing about that day was the weather. It was comfortably cool. So while waiting patiently, we chatted, took pictures of the crowd, and we played basketball (hehe... just kidding!). An hour and a-half later passed, we were able to arrive at our destination point. The merchandise booth:

SIAM SHADE Merchandise Booth

From there, I was able to get mostly of the items as planned on the budget... (hmmm ok, I guess it was over budget, spent too much on few items thinking it would be the last night ^^;):

SIAM SHADE Goods

SIAM SHADE Goods

It was still around 3:30PM that time so we decided to have a break at Mc Donalds:

*Sorry no picture* Hahaha... ^_~

Around 4PM we rushed to Budokan and changed for the ultimate uniform “Heart of Rock” weehee ^_^, and then lined-up for the concert.

Heart of Rock

This time it was quick, the next thing I know was I am inside Budokan and staring at this:

SIAM SHADE Budokan Stage

There was also some sort of “pamphlet/catalogue” for each audience placed on there seats:

*SIAM SHADE Pamphlet (will be posted soon)*

And as usual while waiting for the event, rules while watching the concert such as taking pictures, recording video, mobile phones, etc. were announced.

*Would you like to hear the announcement?* Click here.

5PM, the crowd started to feel the intense heat of the concert, audience were shouting of their favorite band member. On my area most were shouting “DAITA” and “JUNJI” :) How about me? I shouted my name. (Just kidding!) :P . Oh and it was a coincidence that I met one SIAM SHADE fan from Australia, Danny, just a seat away from me. We chatted, and it really feels comfortable to meet and find some foreigners also watching the concert.

And then, few minutes later, I think around 5:10PM the concert already started. Things became blurred to me this time, why? I guess mix of excitement and also the crowd standing up blocking my view!!! >.< Hehehe... But nevertheless, since I was located at the last row, all of us on that area, was able to stepped and stood up on this rail giving us additional height. Taking pictures during this time wasn't allowed, so I never had the chance to get a shot while they were performing. The position of each member was the usual setup like DAITA on left, HIDEKI on center, KAZUMA on right, etc. Here's the list of the song they performed in the following order:

NO CONTROL
imagination
RAIN
CAN'T GET FOR YOU
why not?
LOVE SICK
Dear
PASSION
曇りのち晴れ (Kumori nochi hare)
大きな木の下で (Ooki na ki no shita de)
Solomon's seal
GET OUT
NEVER END
shout out
PRIDE
PRAYER
GETA LIFE
Life

Encore:
1/3の純情な感情 (Ok you should know this!)
Dreams

Double Encore:
D.Z.I
Don't Tell Lies

The night became memorable being able to see them perform live and able to hear my favorite songs such as 1/3, Dreams and Dear :) Before I was just listening 1/3 from Rurouni Kenshin anime *emote* but now I can't believe "THIS IS LIVE!" :D . I remembered myself singing on 1/3 every each part of it.

Although I was far away to see DAITA's gear, I had a good view of his performance on how he stepped on his pedals, etc. I thought he'll be using his new guitars such as PRS, Dean Guitars, etc. but he did not. Different effects such as explosives and fire blowing out from the stage were used. A big disco ball also gives a universe atmosphere inside Budokan. I felt like I was part of a galaxy star constellation, listening to the hymn of their live performance.

There were some surprisingly stunts made by KAZUMA by doing few backflips before exiting and entering the stage for an encore. JUNJI gave away lot of drum sticks and the same goes for DAITA, NATIN and KAZUMA for the picks. HIDEKI on the other hand, toyed the crowd near the arena (where I laughed) as he fakingly attempted to throw the towel and drum stick, either dropping it behind or using the stick to scratch his back.

The night ended with this picture I secretly took (bowing on the crowds):

A night to remember!

After SIAM SHADE’s exit off the stage, the Dear song was played before the audience completely leave their own memorable seats. SIAM SHADE’s performance was truly a night to remember!

Quick notes:
1. Higher resolution photos will be uploaded later, uhmm maybe. ^^;
2. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to meet other international SIAM SHADE fans. It was really difficult and nearly impossible to meet at the clock tower due to the huge crowd.

SIAM SHADE and YUI Concert Countdown

Few more days to go and SIAM SHADE will perform ONE NIGHT live concert on Nov. 18th while YUI will be having her 1st BIG LIVE concert on Nov. 19th. Both concerts will be held at Tokyo Budoukan, and I was lucky to secure tickets for both concerts. On SIAM SHADE, I’ll be at the 2nd floor South-West No. 48... I chose SW as I believe DAITA usually is on this side of the stadium, I want to see his current gears and also how he uses his pedals during his performance :D. On the other hand, I got my advance ticket for YUI on the 2nd floor East No. 32.

WHY by Ayaka

This song was used in Final Fantasy VII - Crisis Core’s promotion video. A game on PSP that was out just yesterday (Sep. 13th). I find the song very nice. It gives more emotion with the FF7’s promotion video. Zack Fair, a 1st class soldier at Shinra and Cloud’s “senpai”/”superior” during early years at Shinra when he’s still a lowly guard would be the focus of the story.

Why by Ayaka (Lyrics)

Inside the eye, there are things that you see and cannot say.
Is there a deeper feeling beneath that heart?
Say that you have obtained everything left in this world with your hands,
Will you still be happy with that?
Why...do you look sadly at the lonely sky?
Why...show your laughing face.
Saying the right words becomes difficult.
Because of your character, I understand.
Was there something in your past?

You so often divert the distant gaze from your eyes.
Alone during the lonely nights, you held on to life tightly.
Did you find any warmth?
Why...Why did you cling to that act?
Why...Let your heart open.
The burden that you carry upon your shoulder,
Makes you able to accept power.
For certain by believing.
Ohh, yeah...
As for the free person being clumsy...
As for the free person being insecure...

Why...do you look sadly at the lonely sky?
Why...show your laughing face.
Saying the right words becomes difficult.
Because of your character, I understand
Try believing...
Why...

SIAM SHADE is BACK!

Yes! SIAM SHADE is back... for one night! ;) One of my favorite bands when I was still in Philippines, and up until now! I could still remember the first time I came here in Japan really wishing to see them perform live! Unfortunately it was March 10, 2002 (a few months ago before I came here! Awww...) when the JROCK band decided to have there last concert at Tokyo, JAPAN Budoukan Stadium before they parted ways. I was so SAD... but not for long...

Surprising news actually came when SIAM SHADE’s chief manager NAKAMURA Shinichi passed away last April 2007. The group then decided to honor it’s manager for a one-night concert that will be held at Tokyo, JAPAN Budoukan on November 18th, 2007. The concert would be themed as “心からROCK” (Kokoro kara ROCK), which means “Rock from the Heart” or “Heart of Rock”.

Official news came from DAITA, SIAM SHADE’s lead guitarist and one of my guitar influence. I tried to translate one of his blog entry here:

NAKAMURA Shinichi, a man who loved SIAM SHADE more than anyone else and the group’s chief manager who passed away last April 25, 2007 at the age of 49. He doesn’t give up to the very last minute as we witnessed him dwelling with his sickness. The only thing we (SIAM SHADE) can do is to honor no other than “Shinichi ISM”, ROCKing sincerely from our hearts, which continues to live...

From there, it has been decided by SIAM SHADE’s each member with their burning desire to re-form the group that parted ways 5 years-ago for one challenging night to LOVE and ROCK LIVE at Tokyo, JAPAN Budoukan Stadium.

Sunday, November 18, 2007 Tokyo, JAPAN, Nippon Budoukan

We wanted to dedicate this supreme performance on stage to him. This is each member’s desire. One more time, let us encounter it at Tokyo, JAPAN Budoukan.

ZARD CD sales surge after J-pop singer’s death

Sales of CDs by pop group ZARD have risen sharply almost across the board since the May 27 death of lead singer Izumi Sakai, according to Oricon Co., which specializes in music rankings.

Since Sakai’s abrupt death of a brain contusion at age 40, about 10,000 fans have visited special tables set up by her agent at its offices in Tokyo and Osaka to dedicate flowers, agent officials said.

ZARD’s Vocalist

This afternoon while having lunch, a news was aired at Japanese local TV. It was about ZARD’s lead vocalist Izumi Sakai (real name: Sachiko Kamachi) who died yesterday May 27th, 2007 at 3:10PM at Keio University Hospital, Shinjuku ward, Tokyo. It was reported that she was diagnosed of cervical cancer last June, and had been released repeatedly from hospitalization. Sad thing is that she actually died due to brain contusion when she fell down from the hospital emergency stairs early morning of May 26th. She died at the age of 40 years old.
