According to Mr. WikiPedia, a digital audio workstation also known as DAW is a system designed to record, edit and play back digital audio. A key feature of DAWs is the ability to freely manipulate recorded sounds, much like a word processor manipulates typed words.
Have you ever wondered of how an audio or sounds can have multiple effects, with different instruments and with a wide-range of channels from Mono, Stereo to Surrounds? Imagine if we are to setup a recording studio in a Church just to make our sound like in a “Church Hall” that would really be so expensive and huge effort is involve.
This afternoon while having lunch, a news was aired at Japanese local TV. It was about ZARD’s lead vocalist Izumi Sakai (real name: Sachiko Kamachi) who died yesterday May 27th, 2007 at 3:10PM at Keio University Hospital, Shinjuku ward, Tokyo. It was reported that she was diagnosed of cervical cancer last June, and had been released repeatedly from hospitalization. Sad thing is that she actually died due to brain contusion when she fell down from the hospital emergency stairs early morning of May 26th. She died at the age of 40 years old. Yuyu Hakusho is a Japanese anime aired around 1992-1995 by Studio Pierrot. Even now it still aired at Tokyo TV (Channel 12) around 8 in the morning where I sometimes get an opportunity to watch it before going to office.
I saw this episode numbered 64 and was inspired to do a guitar version of its background music. Some of those who see this video reminds them of Genkai’s death.
As a guitar player, I always wanted to learn music theory. I could read guitar tabs but not the notes. How I wish someone could teach me though. Learning is fun when you have someone to share ideas. Who could make comments, add suggestions and even debate when something is just not right.
Street Fighter II guitar tablature is now up and ready to be downloaded in two formats PowerTab and Adobe PDF. See Guitar Tabs section of this site for detailed information on how to open these files. Please take note that this tab is not the same version of my SF2 YouTube video. The credit goes to the transcriber and also available for free at PowerTabs.Net.
This afternoon I called my mom (or “madir”, that’s how I usually call her) to greet her a Happy Mother’s day . We quite had a long conversation and updating on what’s going on and told her that I cooked today! Yes, I cooked one of my specialty (really?) It’s beef curry... usually one of the popular dish seen in Japan’s anime/cartoons specially if the story’s about camping and/or training as it is pretty easy to cook... and instant! (Amazingly good at instantly-cooked foods, no wonder, hehehe...) Also spent the half-day playing with my cool guitar, practicing “I’m Alright” by Neil Zaza, and I will be uploading it soon to YouTube See the curry pic with the pick? (Rhyme huh!?)
Just remember back when I was in highschool (woo! talking about highschool life *grins*) where my friends and I used to play Street Fighter II on arcade games. There are lot of versions of this game from “Champion Edition”, “Turbo Hyper Fighting”, “New Challengers” and list goes on... Probably what I could say one of the most enjoyable fighting game I played and on top of my fighting game list.
While checking my video in YouTube account, I saw the Street Fighter guitar clip there and thought why not post it here. The guitar video was played by me last November 26, 2006 in tune of Ken’s stage theme. Ken is one of the video game character alongside with Ryu.
Here’s the video with background music of Ken in his U.S.A. stage:
By the way, this is my 1st guitar video clip and it only runs for a minute. A tribute to one of my favorite video games developed by CAPCOM In this clip I tried to play the solo of this theme and also added some of my own riffs. Dedicated to my colleagues in Kyoto!
Great... after few holidays from Golden Week, eating too much McFlurry and getting exposed from dust while cleaning my room in time for Digital Audio Workstation preparation, this is what I got... FEVER and FLU!
Today work again resumes here in Japan, but my body is still kinda weak, so I needed to take a day-off. Hmm.. Actually I don’t mind being busy at work, it is better than getting sick.. sheez. Now what shall I do?... Need to get well... A.S.A.P!
It’s been a while since I last updated my blog from the previous site and now it’s time to update it with a new look and feel. I’m quite happy with the new layout. To add, I will start posting information about digital recording, music theory and other stuffs related to it. I find it really interesting and fun, don’t you?
Anyway, let me start with the blog’s heading:
On top are two Kanji characters “音” (oto) and “楽” (raku) which means “sound” and “joy” respectively. And when adding up those 2 characters (go get your calculators!) what do we have? Two? No! The term “ongaku” which means MUSIC! It’s really amazing how a person could send his/her feelings and emotions through music, isn’t it? That’s why I came up with the next few lines (written in pink) which was inspired by the Japanese movie titled “Taiyou no Uta” (A song to the sun). It’s a really good movie, why? Because it’s recommended by Yoeru *gotcha!*.
